Learning is a self-active, experiential, problem-solving process that demands an active confrontation with environments, self and others. This hands on exploration, the joy of learning and the strength to overcome diverse challenges are all essential foundations of the life-long learning process. In Petals Nursery, our aim is to make our Petalians real thinkers who taste a bit of independence in their own way. They decide what they want to draw, when they want to visit the washroom and what to make with their toys. This sort of independence teaches them how to make the right choices. They are also taught how to work well within a group through listening, sharing and cooperation. Our caring and experienced faciilitators are dedicated to provide a rich and nurturing environment that will prepare our Petalians to follow a formal curriculum in the coming years. Early literacy is introduced through monthly themes which aim to develop the reading, writing and logical skills that also contribute to the achievement of developmental milestones in this age group. Building materials, such as blocks, support critical thinking, art & craft enhances creativity, outdoor play develops gross & fine motor skills, whereas, role play activities take their imagination to a new level.
A day at Petals Nursery
Petals Facilitator stands with puppet in hand to welcome our little Petalians at the gate. Each Petalian is welcomed with a smile to make them feel connected and special. Petalians choose the way to enter the classroom through high five, dance, hug, shake hands etc. This creates fun in the class.
Our Petalians start their day with circle time to develop social interaction and positive relationships among peer group. It improvises listening skills, fine motor skills and gross motor skills. Circle Time motivates Petalians to attend school daily. During circle time, our Petalians do meditation activity along with tongue twister and concept clearance.
Petals follow a theme-based program throughout the year. Every month there is one theme undertaken around which our curriculum revolves. Our Petalians comprehend learning through the concepts.
At Petals, rhymes are done with music and dance to enhance musical skills. Petalians enjoy this session with their facilitators, props and peer group.
Petals provide healthy and nutritious meal to Petalians. Meal planner is designed under the able guidance of a nutritionist from AIIMS. Healthy meal and snacks allow children to enjoy eating healthy food in an encouraging social setting.
Montessori Time/Reading Time
During this time our Petalians are divided into groups. Some groups are involved with Learning Equipments and other groups are immersed with books in the library area. Petalians are allowed to pick up learning equipment/book of their own choice while facilitator moves individually to each child and put up thought provoking questions to raise curiosity and inquisitiveness towards learning.
Petalians are involved in an activity which can be individual or in group. The activity is related to the theme of the month and each Petalian is encouraged to perform the activity independently.
This is the time to revise the concept done on that day. Our Facilitators put up questions based on what is been done throughout the day. They are praised and appreciated in the form of stars and smileys that keeps them motivated and happy.
Sports is a focus area when it comes to physical development of Petalians and we ensure they simply enjoy their kicks, punches, races and swings. Our Petalians go on a nature walk to observe and explore natural things with the magnifying glass. This enhances their exploration skills and zeal to investigate and learn.
In Petals Nursery program, every day a worksheet is done by our Petalians. Worksheet helps the Petalian to gain knowledge of the concepts undertaken.
In Petals Nursery program, Petalians are exposed to both uppercase & lowercase letters and numbers till 50 (both oral & written). Our Petalians speak, count, match and segregate the objects to enhance their logical skills.
Petalians hang their bags, clean their faces and use the washroom before leaving for the day. They wave good bye to their friends and facilitators with the promise to meet the next day.
